Free iTunes Downloads!!! (And More Cool Stuff)

So it’s Tuesday. And a lot of the time, we try to bring you the cool news well in advance so that you have a heads up on the release day. Today, however, there’s so much breaking news that we want to get right into the thick of things ASAP. What do we mean, you may ask? Everything is happening either right now or by the end of this week. We’re talking free downloads from iTunes, a bunch of amazing new games, and a freaking cool gaming portal from the well-loved TiVo. So let’s get started!

Sorry, but the all-caps was definitely a must – you don’t want to miss this. Presumably in honor of the App Store’s 5^th anniversary on June 8^th, they’re currently offering some deep discounts on many of their top or most popular games. What kind of discounts, you ask? Well – FREE!

New TiVo Gaming Portal Is Here!

Since cable and satellite television providers starting offering DVRs, a lot of people turned away from TiVo; however, as we’re getting further and further along the path of “what will my television be able to do next,” TiVo’s popularity is surging once again. And this little tidbit of news is pretty darn exciting!

On June 5^th, Virgin Media announced TiVo’s new gaming portal aptly named Play Games. It allows you to play directly on your television, as well as personalize your portal and see recommendations from other players. Developers have already come up with a bunch of different games for this platform, including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Scooby’s Creepy Cake Factory, and so much more! Virgin Media’s app development partner, Two Way Media, has a platform for developers so that they can test, host, launch, and make money off of games that they create using Flash.

So what else is also awesome about this new TiVo option? You can save and track your games, and the system uses your history to rank how often you play each one so that you can get to your favorites quickly.

Yup – a real, amazing way to play games on your television (hello, big screen!) and plenty of new developments on the way. Check it out TiVo users!

Hey Angry Bird Fans!

We have some really good news for you today. And no, it isn’t that type of news that’s super exciting, but you have to wait months upon months to actually get your hands on it.

This is happening July 11^th. Of 2013. That’s this year (FYI).

The talented Angry Birds creator is finally coming out with a new game for Apple and Android devices. Tiny Thief will debut by the end of the week and is a puzzle solving game that features 30 different puzzles along with 85 hidden items that you have to steal while solving the aforementioned mind-benders.

We aren’t so sure on the price right now (nothing’s been released), but we’re pretty sure it’ll be worth it!

Hello There Mobile Gaming Fans!

For our older crowd, of course, Square Enix is releasing Deus Ex: The Fall this Thursday, July 11^th, as an iOS exclusive. It’s an action packed RPG game with a rich story, and is one of the few “epic” mobile games that is upsetting the standard console market. And we’re extra excited about this one because of the recent news that developers are creating controllers that fit around your iDevice, turning it into a handheld gaming product.

The graphics here are killer, the story line rich, and the level of gameplay so far above the average mobile product that, well, it’s worth checking out even if this isn’t necessarily your genre of preference.
