Movie Star Planet gives you the chance to become a movie star. Well, it does virtually. This is a world of movie stars, all making their own movies and releasing it to the public. Make your own, release, and see what others think. You can also watch others’ movies and tell them what you think.

There is a lot to this game. Movies, character design, leveling up, playing games, and so much more await you in this world. In order to get the most out of it, you will want to get into everything. It is easy to do this and tons of fun, no matter what it is you want to create with your films.

How to Level Up Fast on MSP?

You are going to want to level up – but how do you do it quickly. After all, no one wants to sit at the same level forever. To get more out of the game, do the following to level up as fast as you can.

One of the biggest things you can do is make movies. Make movies to the best of your ability and release them. Get fame points and begin leveling up in no time.

Thankfully, making movies on MSP is easy. You have all of the tools available to you, so all you have to do is make them!

Other things you can do are play games, take quizzes, and ask for autographs. You can do any of them at any time and they help you to level up fast. Do keep in mind, however, that a person can deny giving you their autograph, and some will.

If you are good at art, or simply have fun with it, creating art books is an option. You can level up by putting your art together for others.

There are ways to make this easier, like creating accounts to mass give autographs and vote on your movies. This is unnecessary, though. There is no reason to with the huge audience.

How to Get Coins on MSP?

Starcoins are important in MSP. In order to get them, you will have to do a few things.

Make or watch movies. This is by the far the best and easiest. Make a movie and get paid for it, or what someone else’s movie and get paid for it.

Play games to earn coins. Games are always a great way to earn some cash. Play all of them to maximize the amount that you get from it.

You can get other players to buy a look that you create. If it is good enough, others will rush to get their hands on it.

So, so try it all out. There are more ways to earn some coins, and a lot of them are really simple and straightforward.

How to Get Clothing Codes on MSP?

You can purchase clothes. However, most people do not want to spend that money. It can get expensive – quick. So, how do you get it then?

Another option is to use Charles Web Debugging Proxy. You can use it to get any item you want from the store easily. You will have a list of items in the shop and in your wishlist, and you can navigate through it with no problems.

Open it up, go to the page where you want to buy things, and find the tab on Charles. There is very little else to do.

What Are Some Cool MSP Names for Guys?

Finding cool names is never easy. You want something that stands out and speaks to you, and that says everything about you. What is the perfect name?

Here are some cool msp names for guys: Andy WhaleHol, KaptainProphecy, MonSimon, MovieMr, Vincent Van Goat, ProudAgent, ParkourAthlete, DarkBuddy, ToughNoob, BlastThing, UltraBoy and IncredibleStar, PerfectActor, HypedStar, WilDr, DjSaiyan, GlitzRocker.

There are a lot of ways to make a cool name. Mix your name with words, use hobbies, mix different words together, and get creative with it.

Where is the Create and Rate Button on MSP?

When you go to activities, you will find Create and Rate. From there, you can submit designs and vote on ones that others have submitted.

Movie Star Planet has endless entertainment waiting for you. Make your favorite type of movie, become a huge star, and show the world just how good you are.

Lovers of romance will want to play romance otome games. This list brings together some of the best out there, of all types. Whether you love school romance or something a little darker, there is one on this list that will work for you.

Otome romance games are visual novels. You read through the story rather than having a lot of action or input. However, you do get to decide certain things. It depends entirely on the game, of course, but certain decisions are available as you play.

Each decision you make will have an impact on the story. This creates an insane amount of replay options. You can continue playing until you go down every path, romance every potential mate, and see every inch of the story.

If you are interested in some of the best, look at the list below and try them all out. While some do require payment, others are free to play right now. Do keep in mind that some will require a download to play.

What Are Some Free Visual Novel Games With No Download?

Are you trying to save as much time and money as possible? That is completely normal – who does not want that? Luckily, there are some visual novel games that require no payment and no download whatsoever.

Tictale Games and Beemoov Games have some fantastic options for you. Many of these games may require downloading to a mobile device, but not all.

Tictale Games

  • Anticlove
  • Anticlove: Story of two sisters
  • Love&Diaries: Lucas
  • Love&Diaries: Duncan
  • Love&Diaries: Aaron
  • Underlove Stories: Naomi
  • The winter kiss
  • Risinglovers

Beemoov Games

Eldarya is a completely free game that you can play right now from your computer. So long as you sign up, you can jump right into the story. As a free user, you can get a taste of what it has to offer, but there is so much more to gain from registering. It is quick and painless, no cost required, and will unlock the full story for you. That story receives regular updates, too, so you can always stay on top of it.

These are not the only ones out there, of course. Finding others is not that hard to do. Thanks to the massive popularity of this genre, you can find free versions almost everywhere without much effort.

What Are Some Online Otome Games That You Can Suggest?

Winterwolves makes some of the top games in the industry. If you have ever wanted to play a visual novel with the art, story, and options that you have always dreamt of having, one of their titles will work for you.

Here are some of Winterwolves visual novels:

They are not the only good ones out there, though. Hatoful Boyfriend and Dream Daddy are popular with massive audiences because they add in twists and humor to their romance. It brings a unique approach that you typically do not find elsewhere. For people who want something more out of their romance, and who want to spice up their gaming a bit, games like these are the first choices. There are others like them available, as well.

Here are a few more games to consider:

You can find visual novels in other areas, too. Plenty of websites will offer top listings, including popular platforms like Steam. If you want to find some of the highly reviewed and recommended games, it may help to use the gaming platforms out there.

In many cases, finding free ones is not that hard. Popular free visual novels are everywhere and you can get them at any point – even now.

What Are Some Free English Online Otome Games?

A lot of games get English releases. The games above all have English releases right now, free and purchased ones.

Games like Summer Found Me, RE: Alistair++, Episode – Choose Your Story and Choices: Stories You Play are available in English and are some of many that you can find. Most places that offer visual novels will have them in English.

Some Romance Games or Anime Dating Games for Guys?

Katawa Shoujo and Roommates are a couple of visual novels guys will love, but they are far from the only ones. Guys have tons of options, regardless of their sexuality. You can find ones that fit you and your preferences easily.

Here are a few more titles: The Flower Shop: Summer In Fairbrook, Summer Sessions, Bionic Heart 1 & 2.

Anyone into otome games will not have to worry about finding something they like. The list of available games goes on and on for what seems like forever. Find the game for you and explore your new romance today.

Wizard 101 has been a hugely popular MMO game for years now. It is where you can go to live out your wizarding dreams. Have you ever wanted to learn spells, go to a school for the magically gifted, get odd pets, and see a world of magic and wonder for yourself? This is what you want, then. It has it all and much, much more.

You can get the perfectly customized and personalized character to fit you. As you grow and evolve, your character will change. You will get better gear and you will get to do far more than you ever dreamt in the beginning. Watch as you become one of the most powerful wizards in all of the game.

Of course, becoming powerful enough is still a while away. Right now, you might need some help getting around certain areas of the game. So how do you become the powerful and amazing wizard you know you can be?

How to Get into Firecat Alley for Free on Wizard 101?

Firecat Alley gives you access to various special parts of the game. It is important for quests, too, as there are areas of the alley that you must access to complete some.

Beyond that, there are things to kill and items to collect. If you want access to all of that, you are going to need to enter Firecat Alley at some point.

The problem here is how. It is open to members and anyone who collects at least 750 crowns, but both of these are difficult to manage. Due to finances or time, you may not have the chance to use either to access the location.

Getting there is not impossible, or at least it should not be impossible. An alternative is to have a friend who can access it. Have that friend go into Firecat Alley and then teleport to them. Theoretically, this should work – and it has before.

The only problem is whether they have patched this. If they fixed it, it is no longer a workable solution. Sadly, there is no other way to get in for free. You will have to become a member or collect the crowns.

How to Get to Cyclops Lane in Wizard 101 for Free?

Like Firecat Alley, Cyclops Lane is a Premium area of the game. If you do not have a Premium membership or pay the crowns, you cannot get into the place. With another high crown count, that can mean not getting in for a long, long time.

No one wants to wait that long, though, right? After all, you want to get the quests, items, and monsters that lurk around that area. If you have to wait, or pay an amount you cannot afford, it is going to be more trouble than it is worth.

Now comes to the problem. How are you going to get in for free? Can you get in for free? You can, and it is easier than you might think.

In order to enter Cyclops Lane, you will have to go over to the three guards near the location. Choose the quest A Giant Problem from the middle one and you will have access.

There is nothing else that you have to do! Once you have access, you can enter at any time.

How to Defeat Lady Blackhope in Wizard 101?

At the end of Unicorn Way, you are going to have to face Lady Blackhope. She is the big bad boss here, and defeating her is the only way to access the rest of the game. If you have had some trouble with it, do not fret. There is an easy solution.

For starters, make sure that you pack everything you need. The necessities for the battle should be ready to go before you make your move.

When in the battle, take out her companion first. With the companion out, she is much easier to attack and take down. You can treat it like a normal battle.

Anyone playing Wizard 101 can enjoy the game far more with access to every area. Use the tricks above to experience it all and become the most powerful wizard in the game – or at least take a step closer to it.

Disney is at it Again!

Disney is moving into the world of virtual reality with a new line of toys combining your favorite super heroes and classic role playing with high-tech wearables. Dubbed Disney’s Playmation, the sets are supposed to hit stores in early fall (around October), and will come with a forearm brace, known as the repulsor, that lets you go through missions as a super hero, starting with Iron Man himself as well as other Avenger’s characters. But, Star Wars and Frozen are on the horizon.

So how does it work? The wearable arm pieces, which change based on the character, come with built-in blue tooth, cloud connectivity and motion sensors. The stand-alone base has a built-in voice, J.A.R.V.I.S, and separate bases that can be outfitted with a figurine. You move around the room, listening to the directions from J.A.R.V.I.S and complete several different missions to defeat enemies.

Disney-Playmation

Yeah – it’s like the activity of Wii in overdrive, and without a screen. The starter pack will come with one repulsor, two power activators, a villain and a helper (Captain America), all for about $120. You can learn more about it and see the trailer here!

Recent Changes to Google Cardboard

Over the last month, Google has been rolling out changes to its budget friendly VR device the Google Cardboard.

To start, the headset is a bit simpler to put together, requiring just a few steps instead of several. The screen is also larger, supporting phones with screens up to 6-inches, which coincides with the headset now working with iOS systems (Apple products have notoriously large screens when compared to other smartphones!).

But it’s not just hardware changes – Google also announced it’s new “Jump” tool that will let users take virtual reality videos. It uses a set of 16 cameras positioned in a circle, an assembler to put together the video clips, and YouTube as a player. Just like the Cardboard, you can get the specs from Google and build the crazy camera yourself, or – if you don’t really fancy something that labor intensive, you can buy a product from GoPro.

virtual-reality-camera-rig

They’ve also decided to bring the Cardboard into the world of education with Expeditions. This classroom tool allows teachers to take their kids on virtual reality field trips, meaning you’re no longer relegated to trips to your local museum or splurge trips to the nearest city – a group of sixth graders can head on over to Venice and have a peak around!

Virtual Reality Movies are On Their Way!

So, Google is getting ready to put together virtual reality videos with the help of its users, but they’ve also invested in a new company: Jaunt. The startup has developed The Neo, which is a stunning wheel-shaped set of cameras that takes high resolution virtual reality videos with the potential to create full-fledged films.

Although Jaunt is certainly not the first company to go in this direction, it is arguably the most fancy – while other hardware is geared more towards consumers, this product will be decidedly for filmmakers. Or a consumer with enough money!

So while this won’t necessarily be a new toy to play with, it does show that we’re slowly thinking outside of the world of virtual gaming, and going in the direction of virtual experiences, whether it’s seeing a sports game, watching a concert as if you’re there, or immersing yourself in a state-of-the-art movie.

Jaunt-neo-camera

And with Google backing the company, there’s a pretty good chance we’ll see some stellar things from Jaunt and The Neo in the near future! Stay tuned!

Smeet Updates

Check out the Smeet Shop! The Excavation Site room was recently expanded with the stuff you need to complete ancient totems, and you can now purchase Heart Trees for your rooms dedicated to all matters of the heart! And bonus – the pretty trees also give you a few fame points!

On July 1st, Smeet started hosting the International Summer Games event – so make sure you check that out, and let us know in the comments below how it’s going!

And, if you can spare a bit of time, the Animal Rescue Center needs some help fixing up some injured animals so they can go on back to the wild. Head over there to nurse them back to health with food, medicine and plenty of love. As a reward, you could earn up to 3 million fame points and a new badge! Just snag the room in the shop and get started!

The Final Rift – It’s Coming!

Last week, Oculus VR finally unveiled the consumer version of their long-awaited headset, the Oculus Rift. It’s sleek to say the least, but we expected nothing less. However, they also let a few juicy details slip as well, including their partnership with Microsoft’s Xbox One and the controllers they’re making specifically for the Rift!

People were understandably bummed when Oculus let on a while ago that the Rift would not work with Apple products, but now the reason for that is clear: they’ve developed an arrangement with Microsoft, and the Rift will work exclusively with the Xbox One console (at least for now). To go along with it, they’re developing their own controller, dubbed the Oculus Touch, which will allow for more realistic hand motions when using the Rift.

Between these two pieces of news, it’s clear that Oculus is well on its way of making true VR gaming a reality. Although some got a little bit worried that gaming would take a backseat once Facebook came on the scene, it appears that those worries can be put to rest. But that doesn’t mean more isn’t on the horizon for the company – they’re currently working on making computer-generated films with their own production division, which could potentially allow you to experience real-world places without actually hopping on a plane.

Final Rift

But we digress. Back to the Xbox. The console will stream the games to the Rift when the Rift is connected to a PC running on Windows 10. This partnership also means that the Rift will work with all of the Xbox games, even if they weren’t specifically designed for VR; instead, the games will play on a theater-like virtual screen, streaming from the Xbox to the Rift using the same tech that allows games to stream from the console to a Windows 10 computer. And the PC is not negotiable – you can’t just plug the Rift into the Xbox.

The controllers are still in-progress, but last Thursday Oculus stated that they’re focusing on sit-down games at first, and designing the controllers so that they feel like those you’re used to. However, a dedicated, wireless Xbox controller will come with every single Rift.

Now, you wanna know a release date and price? Nope – still no word on that. Insiders are betting that the Rift will possibly cost around $1,500 if you factor in bundles that include a PC powerful enough to run the programming at optimal levels. And there’s still no firm release date, although the company is still saying the consumer version of the Rift will be available in the first quarter of 2016, with pre-sales starting later this year.

Minecraft – Virtual Reality

Back in April, we talked about the rumors swirling that Microsoft was planning to make at least a few games to go along with their upcoming HoloLens, despite the fact that it’s not really focused on gaming a la the Rift. Well, at E3 Microsoft unveiled their upcoming Minecraft app that lets you build and play through the HoloLens!

HoloLensMinecraft

People who watched the presentation noted that it looked like a pile of Legos had been dumped on the floor, with the player being able to zoom in and out, go inside their constructions, twirl everything to get new angles, and zoom so closely in you could see incredible detail in what they hand constructed.

Oh yeah, you can build some amazing things – just like you’d expect with Minecraft!

So Microsoft and Oculus – What the?

Reading these two news pieces back to back makes one wonder – if Microsoft is delving into the world of virtual reality / augmented reality, why would they partner with their perceived competitor Oculus?

Because virtual reality and augmented reality are very different. The Rift and headsets like it take you out of reality and into a new world. Augmented reality, like the HoloLens, brings virtual components into your world. Right now, VR is perfect for games like Eve: Valkyrie, while augmented reality is perfect for construction games like Minecraft.

It’s a win-win, and most definitely a match made in heaven!

New Headset Possibility

So, do Oculus, Sony and HTC have a new competitor coming to town? According to Forbes Magazine, they just might.

Project StarVR

The studio that brought you Payday and Chronicles of Riddick is working on their own virtual reality headset, Project StarVR. How’s it different from other upcoming headsets? To start, the field of view is 210-degrees (for comparison, the Rift only has a 100-degree field), and the display has a resolution of 2560×1140, which the company is calling 5K.

Right now, the upcoming The Walking Dead game by Overkill/505 will work with the headset, but the hardware will also support the Steam OpenVR framework, so expect more games on the horizon.

No price or release date yet, but this could definitely be an interesting addition to the line-up. Stay tuned!

IMVU Badges and how you can make them

The IMVU badge feature will let you create your very own badges and hand them out to your friends. You will be able to display your very own favorite badges on your profile that is featured on the IMVU website. These are the perfect way to really express yourself, to show your connections with other people or groups, and are a bunch of fun and awesome to collect.  You can basically think of it as a friendship pin on the IMVU website.

When clicking on a badge it will show the description and this is a small area of HTML or text content where you will be able to add a graphic or message. When people are curious about the badge, they will click the icon to learn more. Once you have created a badge you will be able to share it with your friends or give it to anyone who asks for it, there isn’t a limit on how many times you can give someone the same badge.

The price of the badge will vary and it actually depends on the size. The most common ones are often 1 tile x 1 tile, which is 20×20 pixels and it will normally cost around 100,000 credits. VIPS are able to purchase tiles for around 90,000 credits. Although the price is pretty high, it makes badges extra special, valuable, and collectible. When you actually get a super cool badge for your profile, you know that it was made by someone who is really into the whole IMVU scene and loves it, and that just wanted to give you something to show off on your profile.

You can create your own badge by picking a badge size, creating the image. The image needs to be either JPG, PNG, or BMP formats, and then import your image. If you want to give the badge to your friend, then simply click manage badges in the account settings. Click on grant/revoke option. Then type in your friends avatar name and hit the Grant button.

You can also give it automatically by those who request them. Simply go to manage badges in the account settings. Click edit settings and click on the box that says Badges Auto Grant. If you decide that you want to limit who can show off your badges, then you will need to use the Panel visibility settings in your account setting page to choose a sub-set of visitors such as you friends.

What’s cool is that you can even ask for badges. You can get a badge if you simply ask the person who created it. You won’t always know who created it, although many creators will put the details in the badge itself. If you see one that you like, simply click to see if there are instructions on how you can get it. When you get a badge you will have a message from the IMVU badger to inform you.

If you really want to get a badge, you can try being friendly and giving the person respect and even use please and always say thanks to them. Never use copy and pasted compliments where you are asking for bling and then just complain about the owner of the badge around IMVU.

There are are plenty of ways that you can gain badges, but the fun part is learning the best ways. If you are unsure, feel free to ask anyone for some help.

Here is a list of free badges that you can check out. Click on the creator’s name to request for badges.

Oculus Just Made a Huge Purchase

A few days ago, Facebook-owned Oculus VR announced that it had acquired Surreal Vision, a company that focuses on creating real-time 3D scenes that are truly realistic and detailed as well as virtual reality experiences that meld with actual reality, all of which fits perfectly with Oculus’s goal to create the most immersive experience possible. According to Surreal Vision, they’re working to creating systems that function in any condition, indoors and outdoors, and that allow users to visit anywhere in the world, with anyone, in the most lifelike manner possible.

This may play a pivotal role in setting the Rift apart from similar headsets when it’s released next year.

Oculus Acquired Surreal

Speaking of the Rift

Although they haven’t set a specific release date yet (at this point, we aren’t going to be happy until we have an exact month, day and time!), Oculus recently announced the PC requirements the headset will need to operate at max functionality.

Now, before you panic, Oculus has stated that these requirements won’t change in the future, even if with newer versions of the Rift as the hardware is updated and advances after the current headset’s first release. So, if you invest in a system that lets the Rift shine in all of its glory, you won’t have to upgrade your entire computer just because a new Rift comes out.

So – here it is:

  • Graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290
  • Note – an equivalent graphics card from another brand will work as well.
  • Processor: Intel i5-4590 (or another brand’s equivalent)
  • Memory: 8GB+ RAM
  • Inputs/Outputs: HDMI 1.3 video output, 2 3.0 USB ports
  • Operating system: Windows 7

Will the Rift function on something less powerful / advanced? Probably. It just won’t be the same experience. And keep in mind, technology is rapidly becoming cheaper – even if a computer with all of the above is too costly now, it might be several hundred dollars cheaper by the time the Rift comes out.

oculusrift-headset

And sorry Apple users – the Rift isn’t compatible with Apple products, even though the developer kit versions are/were. This may change in the future, but as of now they’re focusing solely on developing the Rift for Windows-based systems.

Google Might Be Making Big Virtual Reality Announcements This Week

At the end of this week, Google will be hosting its biggest conference of 2015 – the Google I/O. Although they’ve dabbled in virtual and augmented reality with the Google Glass and the Google Cardboard, the massive company hasn’t really entered the realm of virtual reality gaming in the same way as Oculus, HTC and others. But insiders are speculating that they’re about to dive in head first. So what are the possibilities?

Updates to Android: According to media reports, Google has been working on an updated version of the ever-popular Android operating system for a long time now, and some are speculating that they’ll be tailoring the new version specifically to virtual reality. Logically, this would mean that Android phones work with Google Cardboard or a new mobile-based headset.

Their own gaming headset: If the speculation regarding a VR based Android system is correct, Google may take things a step further, offering a separate, premium gaming headset in conjunction with a mobile phone operated headset (like Cardboard). This same business model is seen with the collaboration between Facebook’s Oculus VR and Samsung: the Samsung Gear VR is pretty affordable and works with two of their smartphones, while the Oculus Rift is much more expensive and functions with a PC.

Magic Leap

They want to compete with Microsoft’s HoloLens: Google Glass, an augmented reality device, made headline after headline when it was first released, but the program has pretty much shut down, at least for the average consumer product. However, about 8 months ago Google invested significant funds into Magic Leap, a startup that’s working on a wearable augmented reality device. This could mean an updated consumer version of the Glass, or a new product entirely.

What do you think will happen? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned for any official information that comes out later this week!

Hello there! Lots of exciting news was recently released in the world of VR. So let’s get started!

Ubisoft and Virtual Reality

So far, virtual reality game development has essentially been relegated to indie companies or a small smattering of larger developers modifying existing games so that they function on VR platforms, but don’t necessarily excel. Game developing titan Ubisoft recently announced that it will begin releasing games for virtual reality platforms starting in the first half of 2016. This is, arguably, the most commitment any big-name developer has made to VR.

Why are other developers so cautious? Despite leaps and bounds in tech advances and plenty of buzz surrounding VR, developers are concerned that once all of the in-the-works hardware is released, consumers won’t jump on it. And if they do, they’re worried that the motion sickness sometimes experienced during VR gaming will turn players off to their system.

Basically, the risk involved in development is simply too high for many companies.

But Ubisoft is bucking the trend, which is a pretty hasty turnaround from their views on the industry a little over a year ago. Last year, the Vice President of Creative said in an interview that Ubisoft wouldn’t be putting too much effort into VR game development until at least a million headsets (any brand) were sold.

Ubisoft

The first batch of games won’t be huge (Ubisoft said they’ll have “a few” titles in 2016), but this is definitely a step in the right direction! Stay tuned for title information as it’s released!

A Virtual Reality Theme Park?

Back in the good old days, arcades were quite the hang-out spot for teens and young adults. But consoles brought gaming home, and it can be next to impossible to find a large, dedicated arcade in most areas these days.

But, a new company is planning to open up a series of virtual reality theme parks, starting in 2016. The chain, currently named The Void, will feature a large 3,600 square foot room that acts as a virtual reality play space: users will be provided with headsets, vests and gloves that allow them to interact with the room. It will also feature special chairs that simulate motion, and game pods that integrate and simulate physical senses (temperature, moisture, touch, smells, etc.) into the experience. Basically, think of it as a real-life Matrix!

The first theme park is slated to open in Pleasant Grove, Utah, but the company has high hopes to expand the chain quickly, with the ultimate goal of having locations all over the world. Check out the promo video here!

Samsung Gear VR Now Available for Purchase!

People, it’s finally happening! You can now order the Gear VR headset for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones online! If you’d rather see it in person first, you can snag one at Best Buy locations starting May 15.

Gear-VR

The headset will set you back $199 (as long as you already have one of the two phones it works with – otherwise, you’ll have to snag a new phone too).

In the next few months, you can expect a similar offering from HTC (the Vive is scheduled for release sometime during Fall 2015).

Do you plan to get a Gear VR? Let us know in the comments below!

And Its Official – Oculus Rift Pushes Back Its 2015 Release Date

As we discussed in our previous post, Oculus VR has been backtracking on their 2015 release plans for the Rift, and they recently officially announced that the consumer version of the headline-making VR headset will not be released until the first quarter of 2016. They do, however, plan to start taking preorders later this year.

Although disappointing, here’s hoping that the wait ends up being worth it. However, with Sony’s Morpheus being released during roughly the same time frame, Samsung’s Gear VR heading to retail shelves by the end of this week, and the up-and-coming open source headset OSVR Razer releasing a developer’s kit this summer, Oculus definitely has a lot more competition than they did this time last year.

While You Wait for VR Headsets, Head Over to Smeet!

smeet sticky note contest

Hi there! Before we get into the news of the day, here are a few interesting tidbits.

The new iPhone 7 will likely be released in September of this year! And to prevent phones from snapping in half only moments after they’re bought, there’s a good chance Apple will be making the new phone out of the same, super-strong material as it does the sports version of the Apple Watch.

The company that provides graphics drivers for Microsoft accidentally hinted at the release of Windows 10 – expect to see the brand new, totally unlike any other Windows operating system in late July!

Microsoft is Making Games for HoloLens!

Seasoned game developer John Needham is overseeing game development for Microsoft, including not only the Xbox, but the HoloLens (Microsoft’s version of a head-mounted augmented reality device) as well!

Technically, the HoloLens isn’t a VR device (note the use of “augmented); however, it will be capable of bringing games into your living space and integrating it with real life. What’s this mean? You’ll be able to play Minecraft all over your living room, instead of just on a small visual area. That is, if they create a Minecraft version for HoloLens – there’s no official word on the possible titles they’re starting with.

Hololens1

Despite the lack of concrete details, rumor has it that a lot of famed-developing bigwigs are working on products, so we’re definitely expecting exciting things (and hopefully new details in the coming months)!

Game DVR on Windows 10

Windows 10, set to release this summer, will have a few nifty features specifically for gamers. The new operating system will come with an app that allows you to record 30-second clips and screen shots of PC games.

And just because it’s funny, Windows 10 will also be bringing pre-installed Solitaire back, an age-old game that was missing from Windows 8.

It Ain’t Happening This Year

It’s probably time to call it:

The Oculus Rift will not be released for retail sale in 2015.

Facebook, parent company of Oculus VR, recently held a conference call with all of its suit-wearing investors, and the company’s big-wig financial guru David Wehner said that they have not announced any plans for shipments in 2015, primarily because the Rift is still “very much in the development stage.”

This statement, coupled by the recently-reported comments from founder and inventor Palmer Luckey, strongly indicate that the average consumer won’t be picking up the Rift from their local electronics store any time soon.

oculus rift

Yes, depressing. However, Oculus did partner with Samsung to create the Gear VR, and you can currently snag that at Best Buy.

Here’s to more waiting!

Gaming on a Tablet?

Tablets are good for a whole lot of things, but hardcore gaming (outside of games commonly found on your smartphone) isn’t one of them, at least with your average tablet. Acer is looking to change all of that, and is coming out with a brand new line dubbed Predator.

What’s arguably most interesting (outside of the super cool curved monitor in the collection), is the new gaming tablet, which the company claims will capture the speed and excitement of PC gaming. Rumor has it the line will be released at the end of the year, but the company is staying mum on all kinds of details, including processing information, graphics and, yeah, a release date.

So far, we know that the tablet will have an 8-inch display and a haptic feedback feature, which will allow the device to act as if it’s in the car when you’re speeding down raceways. It will have 178-degree viewing angles as well as IPS technology.

Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available!

Apple Watch Games

Given its tiny, tiny screen and unique hardware, the Apple Watch is much more difficult to develop games for than your average smartphone; however, game developers are nothing if not tenacious!

Apple Watch Gaming

Companies are working round the clock to come up with new content, and Robot 5, a new studio, is planning to release three new games next week, including a card game, a puzzle title and a football game. But they aren’t stopping there. The company intends to create and release seven more titles by early summer.

There is currently a decent selection of content, especially given that the watch was only recently released. Some favorites include Rune Blade, Spy Watch, Watch Quest, Rules, and Watch This Home Run.

It will definitely be interesting to see what developers come up with!
